Alex Jones announces start date for new 'emotional' BBC series away from The One Show

Alex Jones has announced the start date for her new five-part series, Reunion Hotel. Filmed at Iscoyd Park on the North Wales border, the new show will kick off on Thursday, April 6 on BBC One Wales and BBC Two.

The Welsh presenter, who hosts The One Show, will be fronting the new programme, which is based on the series Gwesty Aduniad originally developed and produced for S4C. Alex announced she was taking part in the new series back in 2021.

The show will see the host reunite people with special individuals from their past that they have since lost touch with, from those giving thanks to life-saving heroes, rekindled romances, heart-warming homecomings and even an ex-pupil reconnecting with the professor who changed his life.

Stories across the series include a young woman who meets the stranger who saved her life, secret siblings that are found and reunited, while a 60s girl band reconnect with their favourite boy band 50 years on. Some check in to the Reunion Hotel seeking forgiveness, while others wish to say thank you or get the answers they’ve long needed to know.

Whether it’s an emotional meeting decades in the making or a first-time encounter, Alex and her team of counsellors and hotel staff are there for them every step of the way to support them through what is likely to be a life-changing moment for everyone.

Speaking at the premiere of the new series on Monday, March 20, Alex said: "Being back at Iscoyd Park to watch the first episode of Reunion Hotel was very special. This show is an emotional journey as we bring people together that are connected through an incredible story. Watching it with a room full of people, hearing them laugh and even get emotional, is what the show is all about."

While Head of Commissioning, BBC Cymru Wales, Nick Andrews, said: "This series grabs and holds your heartstrings and doesn't let go. In recent years we've all experienced painful separation followed by the deep, deep joy of reunion and in this series we witness those incredible moments unfold before our very eyes.

"This is a kind series which gently explores what makes us human – a repair shop for humans. Who better to orchestrate this good work than Alex Jones at her brilliant best." For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
