Alex Jones announces she's taking a break from BBC's The One Show

Alex Jones has announced that she and her co-presenters will be taking a break from The One Show. The Ammanford presenter of the popular primetime BBC One show told audiences on tonight's (July 27) episode: "That is your lot this week and for a few weeks because we are taking a summer break. We'll be back on August 22. Until then, stay safe and have a lovely summer."

In tonight's episode, Alex and her co-presenter, former professional footballer Jermaine Jenas, chatted to Oscar-winning actor Daniel Kaluuya, Tom Daley exclusively revealed how he was making history at the Commonwealth Games, and Watchdog investigated the new energy price cap.

Forty-five-year-old Alex has presented the show for the last two nights as normal, despite an online post describing a 'tricky and challenging patch in her life'. You can read more about that by clicking here.

In the message, the Welsh presenter told her 337k followers: "Things have been a bit tricky for us recently and in all honesty, I haven’t had time to be on here between working and the children but I randomly logged on and saw all your lovely messages gently asking if we were all ok.

"I was touched by your kindness and so I just wanted to check in and say thank you, and that even though life has been a bit challenging, we are ok and still managing to enjoy the beginning of the holidays and there's still plenty to smile about! Celebrity pals also commented as Good Morning Britain's Charlotte Hawkins wrote: "Hope all OK, sending love," while Izzy Judd added: "Sending love," followed by love heart emojis.
