Alex Iwobi injury blow for Everton after midfielder leaves FA Cup tie on a stretcher

Alex Iwobi left the field on a stretcher during the second half of Everton's FA Cup third-round tie with Manchester United.

The Nigeria international was replaced by Abdoulaye Doucoure after just 51 minutes of the tie as he was involved in a heavy tackle with United full-back Tyrell Malacia.

Captain Seamus Coleman was one of the first Everton players to respond as he quickly signalled for further help from the Toffees' medical department while comforting the midfielder who lay in agony on the turf.

Iwobi, who has been one of the Blues' best performers so far this campaign, looked to be in a state of distress as he was lifted onto a stretcher by medics after a prolonged period on the ground, and soon pulled his Everton shirt over his face.

While the injury the former Arsenal midfielder sustained has yet to be confirmed, Lampard will no doubt provide an update during his post-match media briefing at Old Trafford later this evening.
