Alex Baptiste is enjoying life at Waterford following his summer move from Bolton Wanderers and is aiming to end the season with a promotion.
The 36-year-old defender departed Wanderers this summer to bring to an end his second spell with the club. Over his two spells with Bolton, he scored five goals in 103 games.
Last season, Baptiste played 18 times for Wanderers and scored once. That came on the opening day of last season with the late equaliser in a 3-3 draw against MK Dons.

The veteran defender joined Waterford over the summer and has played for the Irish side for the second half of their campaign, which comes to a conclusion shortly. He is hoping Waterford can gain promotion with a play-off win on Friday over UCD.
After playing 10 times for Waterford, Baptiste is aiming to end the season on a high and is unsure of what the future holds, admitting it has been tough to leave his family back in England. However, he has enjoyed his time there and has settled in the Waterford area and will see what happens in the future.
Speaking to the Irish Examiner about how he has found the League of Ireland so far, Baptiste said: “Yeah it’s good and I’ve really enjoyed it. Hopefully I can get the job done with the boys this week.
“I try my best and it was a motivation that we were going on two fronts – it wasn’t meant to be in the cup semi-final, but we’re in the play-off final. It’s a big game for the club but we can’t get too excited and hopefully get the job done.
“I’ve really settled into the Waterford area. It’s been tough with my family back in England but I’ve enjoyed it so far. Let’s see what happens.”
