England and Manchester United striker Alessia Russo is reportedly the target of a world-record transfer bid from Arsenal - just months before her contract is up.
The striker, who made headlines with her backheel to score during the Euros last year, could be on the move just hours before the WSL transfer deadline ends at 5pm on Tuesday.
The current world transfer record for a women's player is around £400,000 when Russo's England teammate Keira Walsh moved to Barcelona from Man City in September 2022, but The Athletic are reporting the move for Russo could set a new benchmark. The attacker's contract is up at the end of the season, with interest building over the last few months.
Russo's United career has been nothing but successful after being nominated for WSL Player of the Month in October 2020 with three goals and one assist in three appearances - just a month after she signed for the club.
In her second season from 2021-22, she was named the inaugural winner of the team's Players' Player of the Year award.
Her international career goes back to when Russo first appeared for England on the under-15, under-17 and under-19, under-20 and under-21 national teams
Manchester United currently sit top of the WSL table, but both Chelsea and Arsenal hot on their heels with games in hand.
