Alesha MacPhail's mum shares anguish on how murdered daughter 'should be starting high school'

Alesha MacPhail's grieving mum has told how her daughter should have been preparing to start high school as she marked the fifth anniversary of her death.

Georgina Lochrane, 27, revealed the anguish of losing her "beautiful" six year-old girl after she was murdered on July 2, 2018. Little Alesha, from Airdrie, North Lanarkshire, was abducted, raped and murdered by Aaron Campbell, 18, while staying with her dad and grandparents on the Isle of Bute Bute.

Five years on, her devastated mum has reflected on the milestones that Alesha has missed, including preparing to start secondary school.

Writing on the charity page Alesha’s Beaming Smile, Georgina wrote: "Five horrible, heartbreaking years without you. Not a single day goes by where we don't think about you or talk about you, Alesha.

"Our full world came crashing down five years to this date, you were ripped from our lives and our life hasn't ever been the same. This was your big year - you’d be finished primary and heading off to your big adventure to high school.

"You’d be turning 12 in October. Mummy had so many plans for this year for you but instead we have to celebrate your milestones in your memory now. This world is beyond cruel."

The tribute continued: "You're missed more than anything and loved beyond anything that can come close to describing it. Until mummy gets to see you, keep shining my beautiful girl."
