Brat summer is bumpin’ that in the Northern Hemisphere, but what about the gals, gays and theys turning up the heat in the Southern Hemisphere? If you’ve been waiting for your own brat moment since Charli xcx’s album was released on July 7th, we’ve got you party girls covered.
Helga’s is partnering with Sydney eatery, It’s Recess to give away free Club Classics (Club, Club classics) — AKA brat sandwiches in Sydney this Friday. So you’re fuelled for your next party, just like Mother Charli would want us to ofc. I mean, she did reference a ‘sandwich baggy’ on her tour poster. Wouldn’t you want to get your hands on your own?
When I say sandwiches, I don’t want you to picture just a plain Jane, office cubicle sandwich. No, no, that wouldn’t be very bratty. It’s chaotic in the best way.

What’s in the Helga’s Club Classic (AKA brat sandwich)?
There’s no need to Guess what’s in Helga’s bratty Club Classic, as I’ve got the secret recipe for the 365 sammies right here. Just like your ex-boyfriend’s personality, the 11-layered sandwich will have you dancing all night.
We start the sandwich off strong with Helga’s fluffy wholemeal bread, followed by a brat-green mayo being slathered on. The famous colour comes from its gherkins and relish. (Alongside Parmesan cheese, mustard and mayo, of course.)
This is paired with crispy bacon, oxheart tomato and apple slices soaked in pickle juice, “I guess the apple don’t fall far from the tree”, after all.
Another piece of Helga’s is slapped on to balance out even more brat-mayo, rocket, chicken, and Swiss cheese.
Slap on another slice of Helga’s bread, and there you have the Club Classic. Luckily, Helga’s knows brats are a lil messy, so they gave us three slices of soft but sturdy wholemeal bread to hold the sandwich (and ourselves) together.
How can I get my hands on Helga’s limited-time-only Club Classic?
Friday September 6 will be THE night for brats in Sydney, and I’m so here for it. After you’ve pre’d with your besties, fuel up for the night ahead with a free Helga’s Club Classic from 10pm AEST at It’s Recess, Surry Hills store.
Helga’s and It’s Recess really ate with the 365 free sandwiches, filling us up before we party on over to the Brat Gala at Oxford Art Factory from 11pm AEST. Or, grab a free Helga’s Club Classic on your way back home from clubbing. You wouldn’t have to ask me twice about a free sammie, I’ll tell you that much.
What else should you expect at the Helga’s X It’s Recess pop-up?
For you lucky Sydney brats, the 365 Club Classics will be packaged in lil’ sandwich bags that you can reuse.
You’ll be able to wash your Helga’s Club Classic down with some free lime cordial as a chaser and snap a pic in front of the lime green photo ops.
This event is for one night only, so make sure to head down to It’s Recess from 10pm AEST on Friday September 6 before the 365 Helga’s Club Classics are sold out — which is so bratty.
