The Oklahoma City Thunder announced on Monday they had assigned forward Aleksej Pokusevski to the G League’s OKC Blue.
This is a positive step in Pokusevski’s return. He has been out since Dec. 28 with a non-displaced tibial plateau fracture in his left leg.
The Blue are scheduled to play on Wednesday, March 8. This gives Pokusevski his first real shot to play in a game since Dec. 27 against the San Antonio Spurs.
With only 18 games remaining in the regular season, it’ll be a race against time for Pokusevski to make his return.
Before breaking his leg, Pokusevski was thriving in the best season of his young career and was playing vital minutes for the Thunder. In 31 games, Pokusevski is averaging 8.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, two assists and 1.3 blocks. The 21-year-old will be eligible for a rookie extension this offseason.
