Alejandro Garnacho told to sack agent as Man Utd prepare club record contract

Manchester United wonderkid Alejandro Garnacho has been urged to sack his agent, with the Red Devils preparing to hand him a record contract.

Garnacho has broken into United's first-team this season, making 17 appearances in all competitions, as well as scoring two goals. That included a last-minute winner against Fulham just before the break for the World Cup.

But a problem is rapidly approaching for club chiefs, with Garnacho out of contract at the end of next season. Negotiations are ongoing between the attacker's representatives and United, though they do have the option of extending his deal by an extra year.

The fact the talks are continuing, with no sign yet of a resolution, has seen former United star Paul Parker urge the wonderkid to sack his agent. Parker blasted Garnacho's representatives and insisted he would be better off without them.

"I don't understand why he wants to leave the biggest club in the world. And why Juventus or Real Madrid? Juventus are in a really bad situation at the moment so he would get there to be on the bench in a bad team," Parker told Wettbasis.

"And Real Madrid, of course it's a big club, but he would play there even less than at Man United. So these rumours make absolutely no sense and I don't think they are true.

"I believe the agent is trying to pressure Man United to give Garnacho a big deal so the agent can line their pockets with big bucks. That's how agents work these days and Garnacho should consider firing him for not trying to help Garnacho.

"Actually, I don't understand why players want agents. The only thing they do is create drama and take some of footballers hard-earned money.”

Parker's blast comes days after Mirror Football reported that United are preparing to offer Garnacho the longest contract in the club's history. The Red Devils are ready to hand him an eight-year deal and considering inserting a buy-out clause to get him to sign.

Talks have so far been less than straightforward, with United anxious to secure the future of the winger. The Red Devils are determined to not allow him to leave Old Trafford following his starring role this term.

And as well as the longest contract in the club's history, they are also ready to make him the highest-earning teenager in their history. They are hopeful of securing an agreement, though Garnacho's representatives are not yet ready to commit to a deal of over four years.

Garnacho will hope to next be in action on Wednesday when United travel to Nottingham Forest for the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final against their Premier League rivals.
