Alejandro Garnacho sends Man United message as Erik ten Hag talks Marcus Rashford position change

Here are your Manchester United evening headlines on Thursday, February 9.

Garnacho posts Instagram message after Leeds draw

Alejandro Garnacho has posted an Instagram message after Manchester United's draw with Leeds on Wednesday.

United fought back from two goals down to draw with Leeds but it felt like a missed opportunity as they failed to take the chance to draw level on points with Manchester City. Jadon Sancho was introduced alongside Facundo Pellistri just before the hour mark with Wout Weghorst and Garnacho making way. The promising winger was naive at times in the match and missed a great opportunity to score before being hooked.

It's another occasion in which Garnacho has struggled to have as much impact from the off as he has as a substitute and he now hasn't scored since his dramatic winner against Fulham back in November.

Ten Hag makes admission about Rashford position

Erik ten Hag is open to moving Marcus Rashford up front after he scored his second goal in as many games as a striker for Manchester United. The Dutchman surprisingly started the England international in his weakest position on the right wing against Leeds but switched him to the opposite flank at the start of the second half with United 1-0 down.

Leeds went 2-0 up through a Raphael Varane own goal in the 48th minute and United striker Wout Weghorst was substituted in the 59th minute for Jadon Sancho. Sancho lined up on the left and Rashford moved inside, where he scored his 20th goal of the season three minutes later from Diogo Dalot's cross.

Anthony Martial missed the 21st United match out of 35 this term in the draw with Leeds and Weghorst only has one goal in seven games. With Sancho back in the squad, Rashford could take Weghorst's place as the No.9 against Leeds at Elland Road on Sunday.
