Alec Baldwin was seen smiling as he left the courtroom for lunch amid day three of legal proceedings related to the 'Rust' movie set shooting trial. The actor's legal team argued for a dismissal of the case in a special motions hearing held on Friday, July 12. Originally planned to last around 45 minutes, the hearing is now expected to extend throughout the day following a recess called by Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer.
During the proceedings, Baldwin was observed holding hands with his sister Beth Keuchler and appeared in good spirits as he exited the courtroom for the lunch break. Keuchler has been present at every session of the trial, except for the day of jury selection.
If convicted of involuntary manslaughter, Baldwin could face a sentence of up to 18 months in prison. The criminal charge was brought against the actor in January 2024, almost three years after the tragic shooting incident that resulted in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
