Special prosecutor Erlinda Johnson recently disclosed crucial details regarding the tragic incident that occurred on the set of the film 'Rust,' shedding light on the finger placement of actor Alec Baldwin on the trigger of the F.LLI Pietta Long Colt 45 Revolver he was handling.
According to witness testimonies presented by Johnson, Baldwin was observed placing his finger 'on or around' the trigger of the revolver during the sequence of events leading up to the fatal shooting. Johnson emphasized that witnesses will attest to Baldwin's actions, stating that he swiftly pointed the gun on multiple occasions with his finger in close proximity to the trigger.
Johnson elaborated on the prosecution's perspective, highlighting the alleged actions of the defendant. She described how Baldwin reportedly removed the gun rapidly, pointed it, and had his finger positioned near the trigger. This pattern allegedly repeated, with Baldwin once again swiftly drawing the gun, cocking the hammer, and ultimately firing the fatal shot directly at cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
Despite the assertions made by the prosecution, Baldwin has consistently denied pulling the trigger during the incident. In a televised interview with George Stephanopoulos, Baldwin reiterated his stance, stating unequivocally, 'I didn’t pull the trigger. I would never point a gun at anyone and pull the trigger at them. Never.'
The conflicting narratives surrounding the finger placement on the trigger of the revolver have intensified the legal proceedings and public scrutiny surrounding the 'Rust' shooting. The case continues to unfold as both sides present their arguments and evidence in the courtroom.
