Alec Baldwin's daughter Ireland Baldwin recalls eating disorder 'torture'

Ireland Baldwin has spoken candidly about her past struggles with drug addiction and alcoholism as well the impact eating disorders have had on her life.

The model, alongside mother and actress Kim Basinger, joined Red Table Talk - an Emmy award-winning talk show hosted by Willow Smith - to discuss how such issues had also affected her relationships with family members.

"I just hit a total breaking point," said the 26-year old. "I was self-medicating with Xanax and I was drinking. And I have a lot of alcoholism and drug addiction in my family.

"I had a night where I went way too far with drinking and taking pills because I couldn't even go to bed at night."

Ireland, who is also the daughter of actor, Alec Baldwin, 64, revealed how she pushed her loved ones away.

"I had isolated all of my real friends, isolated my family," she said. "I had no control in anything in my life. I tortured myself with my eating disorders that I had.

"I didn't talk to my parents for like a year," Ireland added. "I saw them here and there, but I was so ashamed of what I had become and how I was living. I just became this different person. I was emaciated in every way; I was lifeless."

Earlier this month Ireland took to her Instagram account to declare: "I have been called some version of fat, ugly, worthless and irrelevant by grown adults on the internet since I was a kid. It's nothing new.

"I have spent way too many years starving myself, binging, purging, measuring, stepping on scales, spitting food into my purse, and all around ruining my body because some troll told me I'll never be as thin an beautiful as my mother. Now that I made it through the EDS, I am indeed on the other side."

Despite admitting she still suffers "bad days," she outlined her new perspective: "Overall, I f--king LOVE food... like romantically. I love my body. I love the way it moves. I love how I feel in it."

Ireland spent two weeks in Malibu's SOBA Recovery Center in 2015 stating at the time: "I need to overcome everything that I had been through and rid myself of all the pain I locked away in unreachable place."
