Aldi has found itself on the receiving end of some criticism from shoppers who are not happy with the supermarket's opening hours this bank holiday weekend.
The budget supermarket recently took to Facebook to confirm it would be operating at normal hours during the four day long bank holiday, reports The Manchester Evening News.
It is not the only store to remain open, as many supermarkets across Scotland have confirmed they will be open as normal during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
And while this is good news for any last minute trips for some food and drinks, it looks like some Aldi shoppers are not happy and called the decision "terrible".
Posting to Facebook, Aldi wrote: "We're open for the Jubilee Celebration! Make sure you head down to get all your essentials for the weekend!"
Multiple shoppers took to the comments section to debate whether the supermarket should have given their staff time off to enjoy the celebrations.
"Shame for the staff… not even bank holiday hours. Shame on you… hope it’s double time and a day in lieu", blasted one shopper.
"Terrible should open Sunday hours! Then staff can enjoy the Bank Holiday too", commented a second.
"Why not close for the bank holiday give family’s a chance to be together, everywhere who can close should close life’s to short. Remember when shops shut people managed if you run out you make do till they reopen and be more prepared next time", replied a third.
However, some shoppers defended the supermarket's decision to remain open and even wondered why Aldi was being "singled out" when other stores would be open.
"Why is Aldi getting singled out I’m sure nearly all local shops keystone Nisa spar etc will be open", questioned one shopper.
"Love everyone saying for them to close and give their staff the bank holiday off.. they aren't the only ones working it. I work every bank holiday and don't get extra pay for it", said a second.
"Not sure why everyone is moaning to be honest! There will be millions of people still working normal hours in hundreds of different sectors. Most people here complaining will end up down the pub or out for lunch.. Guess what.. those people who serve you have family and will most likely want to be at home with family celebrating too!", replied a third.
An Aldi spokesperson told Manchester Evening News: “All Aldi colleagues working over the bank holiday will get time off in lieu. We are very grateful to everyone at Aldi who is working this weekend to help our customers get everything they need to celebrate the Jubilee."
