Aldi targeted by two men in early morning break in

A Merseyside Aldi was targeted in an early morning break-in over the weekend.

The break-in was confirmed by Merseyside Police when details of the crime were posted on Facebook. It was confirmed that officers were called to the Aldi store on Meols Cop Retail Estate at 4.24am yesterday (Sunday, March 27).

Following the alarm call, officers arrived at the store at 4.31am but the offenders managed to getaway. CCTV enquiries show that two men are responsible and made off from the store at 4.21am

Merseyside Police are now appealing for information about the break-in and for any witnesses to get in touch. The page also confirmed that patrols are continuing to cover the area.

The post said: "At 04:24am this morning (Sunday 27th March) police received an alarm call from the Aldi store on the Meols Cop Retail Estate. Patrols on duty in Southport responded and arrived on scene at 04:31am, but sadly the offenders had made good their escape. CCTV enquiries show two men to be responsible, who left the store at 04:21am.

"Did you see two men in this area at this time in the morning? Do you have CCTV or dash cam footage that may have captured the two offenders? If so, please contact us via 101 or at the MERSEYSIDE POLICE CONTACT CENTRE page on Facebook and quote crime reference number 22000210999.

"Investigations into this and other overnight business burglaries in Southport continue, and patrols continue to cover the Southport area 24 hours a day."
