Aldi staff say there's a good reason dad discovered car wrapped in cling film in supermarket car park

A former Aldi employee has issued an explanation as to why a dad discovered a car wrapped up in cling film in the supermarket's car park. Paul Hart, a 33-year-old dad, says he was in disbelief when he found the car wrapped from head to toe in cling film.

The dad was visiting his local Aldi supermarket in St Helens when he made the discovery. He was so taken aback, he had to look twice.

Paul took to Facebook to share what had happened. After sharing, it wasn't long before he was met with an explanation from a member of staff.

The 33-year-old dad who spotted the cling filmed car told the ECHO: "I was just waiting with my son in the car and as I looked in the rearview mirror to check on him. I was shocked to see the car completely wrapped up in cling film. I genuinely had to look twice, I couldn't believe it."

The Aldi shopper added: "It was just so random to see a vehicle in the middle of a busy car park just sat there wrapped like it was. So bizarre."

Paul shared a picture of the wrapped car to Facebook in the hopes of an explanation. With some speculating the move could have been an early April Fools prank. One person said: "April fools prank? So foolish they didn't look at the date?"

However, it appears the cling film wrapping is a tradition for departing members of staff at the supermarket. The owner of the car, a former Aldi worker, explained that it was a prank to celebrate his last day working at the supermarket.

He said: "Going to miss working with this bunch, it has been a pleasure working with you all. Thanks for putting up with me." Let's hope they didn't use Marks and Spencer cling film for the prank.
