Aldi shoppers told to think carefully about how they unload baskets at checkout

Shoppers who frequent Aldi will know that the checkout process can be an absolute nightmare. The self-checkouts are sometimes shut or out of order, and for many people, the till is a preferable option.

But if you're not as speedy as Usain Bolt when it comes to packing your Aldi shopping, chances are, you'll be bombarded with items, as checkout staff scan items more quickly than the UK changes Prime Minister. And that's saying something.

Aldi has previously stated that you can just ask the staff member at the till to slow down if they're going too fast, but of course, many of us are FAR too British to do such a thing. As such, shoppers are always trying to find out ways to slow out the checkout process.

Now one man has shared his technique that he employs to stop staff from overwhelming him. While putting his shopping on the belt, he spreads it out so staff can't scan everything so quickly.

On TikTok, the man named Ciaran explained: "Top tip: spread all your shopping out and it gives you time to bag it so they don't throw it at you." The video has been viewed more than 90,000 times since being shared on the platform.

Lots of viewers loved the idea, as one customer commented: "Need to do that, Aldi cashiers are way too fast." Another added: "Very good, I'll use this next time."

A third commented: "This is the best life hack I've ever seen" while another replied: "Genius."

But some shoppers admitted they like the speed, while one supermarket worker said it wouldn't slow them down. She commented: "Hahhaa people think this works, we'll just scan faster."

Another asked: "Where's the fun in that? I like to pack as fast as they scan, it's a game." But one shopper said she simply asks the cashiers to slow down.

She commented: "Just ask them to slow down." Meanwhile, others were worried it would result in a hike in price eventually.

One viewer warned: "It's cheap because they scan quickly and have less people working. "Use the packing bench. Shop elsewhere if you don't like it."
