Aldi shoppers rave about popular £6.99 SpecialBuy perfume - almost identical to £110 designer brand

Amid an ongoing cost of living crisis - people across the United Kingdom are stripping back on luxury items in a bid to make ends meet.

Designer brands and products have been the first port of call with regards to culling for many, with dupes and knock-off items growing increasingly popular due to similarities for a substantially slashed price.

And one in particular that is catching people's attention comes in the form of an Aldi SpecialBuy, which has grown in popularity for smelling almost identical to Jo Malone's Lime and Basil Cologne.

Birmingham Live reports that while the designer brand can retail for up to £110 in certain shops, Aldi's Hotel Collection No.1 sells for a much more respectable price point of just £6.99 - with a number of shoppers making the swap to the cheaper alternative on price point alone.

The dupe was spotted on a popular Facebook group by Caroline Scampton, who wrote: "Aldi Jo Malone dupe £6.99. As a lover of Jo Malone I saw this in Aldi and decided to try it - it’s the same size 100ml, it smells exactly the same and lasts longer !!!"

Aldi also sells other products under the 'Hotel Collection' branding, inclusive of candles and reed diffusers should you seek a similar scent around your home. Since its launch, social media users have been raving about the collection.

Amy Smith said: "We now swear by the Aldi dupes after my boyfriend moaning at me for stealing his Jo Malone scents for everyday use… the pomegranate one still lingers on him when he gets home from work," while Francesca Wells, added: "I buy the pomegranate one and the peony blush and poppy ones too they smell so lovey and last all day long.

"I had it on for work one day and someone asked me if I were wearing Jo Malone, so it must smell the same, they couldn’t believe it when I said it was the £6.99 dupe from Aldi."

Gail Williams, meanwhile penned: "Ooooh, now I’ve always loved No 3, (pomegranate) but can’t afford the Jo Malone prices have to see if I can get a bottle of it now. Thank you."
