When it comes to incredible dupes, there's no doubt supermarket chain Aldi is one of the best.
The popular budget retailer has become famed for providing shoppers with good quality 'dupes' that are similar to original brands, such as M&S, Lurpak and Domino's.
And as families begin to feel the pinch of the cost of living crisis, many might find that they have to cut back on their favourite takeaways in order to save some pennies.
Luckily, Aldi have you covered with a pack of rolls that shoppers on social media swear are suspiciously similar to those sold in Subway.
The Manchester Evening News reports that Aldi's 89p packet of Metro Bread Rolls could save families hundreds of pounds a year on takeaways.
The bread rolls were spotted by shopper Nicola Atkinson, who shared them on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains Facebook group.
She wrote: "New in Aldi... Subway dupe bread rolls cheese & herb, wholegrain & Italian style on 89p pkt." Nicola also shared a picture of the new rolls.
The post received an overwhelming response. Debbi Doodle said: "Oooo I have to try these! My daughter only has cucumber and sweetcorn so could make her one at home!!!"
Stacey Retter wrote: "I bought a couple of packs the other day, they are lovely." Donna Frost said: "I tried these made our own subways. The Italian was lovely . The cheese and herb was OK it not my fav."
Tricia Brewis said: "Can do a cheat Subway." Dani Robinson said: "Oh yes, this is definitely going on the meal plan next week. I love subway."
Meanwhile, others questioned the sugar content in the rolls. Alicia Nash said: "They look tasty! But hopefully they’re not as full of sugar as the subway rolls. Subway rolls have so much sugar they’re nutritionally categorised as cake and not bread!" Simon Hillan said: "Are these bread though? Or the same as subway."
Gemma Alemdaroğlu said: "We can make our own subways, just need to buy the sauces."
Many shoppers called out Aldi for the 'shameless' branding. Donna-Marie Coogan said: "Metro rolls. They have no shame! I love it." Jonathan Curtis wrote: "I like the shameless attempt at that branding."
An average 6-inch Subway tuna sandwich costs £4.99. The Aldi bread rolls cost 45p each - while a tin of tuna is 66p. To make a fake Subway at home with these ingredients it would cost little over £1 - depending on what toppings you want, of course.
That makes a saving of £4 each time. That said, if you were to make the switch regularly, your family could potentially save £100s every year.
