Aldi shoppers queue from 8am for air fryer as demand causes supermarket 'madness'

Excited shoppers who flocked to Aldi for the supermarket's air fryer were left disappointed after they couldn't find any in their local store.

The budget German grocer's affordable Ambiano Dual Basket Air Fryer - which has touted as a 'dupe' for Ninja Air Fryer Dual Basket - was recently available to purchase online before officially selling out within less than 24 hours.

In a bid to meet demand, Aldi confirmed that the energy-saving appliance would be available in stores on Sunday, November 13, as part of its Specialbuys range.

Priced at just £89.99, the Ambiano Dual Basket Air Fryer has been a hit with shoppers for its ability to cut back on energy costs, while also being compared to the popular Ninja model that is worth a whopping £229.99.

In a bid to get their hands on one of the nifty appliances this time round, many shoppers flocked to their local Aldi store from as early as 8am in hopes that this might be their lucky chance of picking one up.

And many shoppers were lucky enough to pick one of the supermarket's models up admitted that the scenes at the supermarket were "madness."

One shopper took to the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Group to share their lucky purchase and wrote: "Managed to get my Aldi air fryer only one in my store was first in queue at 8am. Queue was huge and I had to get followed to my van by staff and I got followed leaving the store. Madness."

However, many other shoppers were left downhearted after their local store did not have many air fryers in stock, with some even being subjected to a ticketing system that left many empty-handed.

One shopper, whose mum was lucky enough to grab them one from their local store, took to the Aldi UK Shoppers Facebook page to say that they couldn't believe how lucky they were after there were only three in stock.

Other disappointed shoppers quickly flocked to Twitter to directly tag the supermarket to slam their advertising after it was revealed that most stores only had limited stock, despite them being left to queue for hours.

"@AldiUK absolutely disgraceful that we waited for the store to open at Portlethen to be told your team there had handed out vouchers to people earlier in the morning for your air fryer. Not in the spirit of fairness", fumed one shopper.

"@AldiUK So, I queued for nearly an hour for an air fryer to be told when the store opened that there was ONE for sale! I felt sorry for the poor staff who had to explain the situation to many unhappy customers. Poor show, Aldi, done yourselves no favours there", agreed a second.

"@AldiUK poor show! tried to get air fryer online last week the site crashed on me. Go to 2 stores in East Kilbride and they didn't get any in their delivery! 1st store was gd enough to put a sign up at least 2nd store made us all stand outside till 9am to tell us there was none", complained a third.

"The way @AldiUK has handled this air fryer situation is awful", Tweeted a fourth.

The Daily Record has contacted Aldi to confirm if the Ambiano Dual Basket Air Fryer will be back in stock.
