Budget supermarket chain Aldi is taking on competitors with its range of egg barbecues. The Kamado grill barbecue has proven to be a hit with customers, with hundreds leaving five star reviews for the product on Aldi's website

Aldi describes its product as a "design influenced from ancient Japan". It retails at£399.99 and a number of shoppers have praised the price. One customer even said "It best of many barbecues I have owned or used over the past 50 years" in a review on Aldi's website.

The egg-shaped product has two cooking grills, a grill elevator, heat deflector and bamboo side shelves. It's an online exclusive and can't be bought in Aldi stores. Popular versions of the egg-shaped barbecue can cost more than £1,000

Aldi is also selling a mini version of the popular barbecue. Its Mini Kamado barbecue is priced at £119.99 and is described by the retailer as being a "small but mighty cooking appliance", which is "ideal for grilling meats and vegetables to perfection for quick and easy outdoor meals".

The new product was redently launched as part of the retailer's latest Specialbuy range. Aldi’s latest garden products are available to pre order via the online Garden Shop from May 15 and in stores from May 22, with further products available from the May 29. A spokesperson for Aldi said: "As with all Specialbuys, garden gatherers need to be quick because once they’re gone, they’re gone."
