Parents have praised Aldi for one of their latest Specialbuys, saying it’s provided their children and grandchildren with ‘hours of fun’ - once they’d managed to put it together, that is. The Little Town mud kitchen comes in grey and brown, costing £59.99 - which shoppers report is ‘half the price’ of similar products on the market.
The outdoor kitchen toy lets children explore role play and lets imaginations run wild, from playing sous chef, to green-fingered gardeners. Aldi said: “Embark on a culinary adventure in the garden with the Little Town Grey Mud Kitchen. With a sink and hob, there is enough room for the whole family to get involved.”
The kitchen comes with a pan and lid, frying pan, spatula, spoon and skimmer - all of which are metal. It also comes with plastic plant pots and four pieces of chalk that can be used on the mini-chalkboard to write out a specials menu.

There are pegs to hang up utensils, and the plant pots slot into the shelf and can be used to grow herbs. Shoppers have said the set has provided hours of fun for their young relatives, even personalising the £60 Specialbuys with their names.
One said: “Fab! Bought as present for my nephew, he has had hours of fun.”
“Bought for our granddaughter's birthday,” added another. “I think she will have many hours of fun in a lovely mud kitchen. We had a plaque made with her name on.”
A third wrote: “Bought for my grandsons and they love it, they spend hours out in the garden playing with it.”

And while we can believe it absolutely does offer hours of fun, that’s after it’s taken ‘hours’ to put together. Customers have joked about how long it took to assemble their mud kitchens after delivery, with one suggesting it took ‘100 screws’.
One said: “Lovely ONCE FINALLY together. Patience needed but very worth it.”
A second wrote: “This mud kitchen is great and very sturdy. So sturdy in fact, it has over 100 screws to put it together. I think that is more than my actual kitchen! After a couple of evenings of assembling the mud kitchen and a sore forearm later the kids absolutely love it.”
One customer recommended using a battery operated screwdriver - which Aldi also stock for £14.99 - writing: “Would recommend using a battery driver to put this together otherwise a manual screwdriver takes a long time! Every piece is labelled with a sticker so it’s easier to identify which piece goes where when assembling it.”
And other parents even roped their children into helping put it together, with one adding: “Like any toy kitchen this took a while to put together but this is another opportunity to include your child in the DIY element of it.” It definitely seems like a case of ‘short term pain for long term gain’ with this fiddly Specialbuy, but as many shoppers have said - it’s worth it!
