Aldi shopper 'traumatised' after worst nightmare occurs - before 'angel' appears

An Aldi shopper praised a supermarket worker he described as an "angel by the till" after experiencing a seizure in the store.

Robert Clayton, 39, collapsed to the floor and an employee rushed to his aid and started moving objects out of the way.

Robert says "the angel by the till" spoke to him throughout the seizure and called an ambulance for him.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, the shopper said: "This lady came over and called an ambulance for me straight away.

"She moved all the objects out the way so I wouldn't hurt myself, closed the aisle to protect my privacy and spoke to me the whole way through."

He described the employee at the shop in Norris Green, Liverpool, as having blonde curly hair.

"She was amazing," Robert continued.

"I was diagnosed with epilepsy a few months ago after a head injury and I was worried about it [seizures] happening while I was out and about because people could take advantage of me or rob me.

"She told me I wasn't alone, everything was going to be okay, she wasn't going to let me hurt myself and she was stroking my head.

"She kept telling me the ambulance was on the way."

Robert was taken to hospital where he was checked over by doctors. He added that he was most impressed by the worker's initiative to check his medical bracelet and call his emergency contacts from his phone so they arrived at hospital when he did.

He said: "The staff were amazing as you can imagine this is very traumatic and embarrassing for me. I'm going to go back into the shop and get the lady some nice flowers because she was incredible.

"I got in touch with Aldi and said if they do an employee of the month she should really get it and be recognised. I thanked them for their impeccable staff training."
