Aldi shopper shares hack she uses to trick kids into eating own-brand ketchup

A savvy Aldi shopper has shared a money-saving hack that will help families make the switch to a cheaper bottle of ketchup that Heinz loving families will never notice.

The clever mum took to the Aldi Shoppers UK Group on Facebook to share how she fills up empty bottles of Heinz ketchup with Aldi's 72p own-branded Bramwells ketchup.

Heinz has been a staple for many households across the country, with many red sauce loving fans swearing that not many other brands can compare to them. But with the cost of living crisis forcing many families to stick to a budget to save some extra cash, switching from big name brands has become a new habit for many.

And it looks like Aldi's pocket-money friendly value bottle of ketchup is just as good as the iconic brand's bottle of sauce that retails at anywhere around £2+ in some major supermarkets. In fact, Aldi's Bramwells ketchup is such a good 'dupe' for Heinz, that the shopper says that the simple hack will make sure that her little ones will never know the difference made to save the pennies.

They captioned their post: "Sshhh! My kids will never know!! Very messy Mum!! Time to watch the pennies more than ever."

The post was quickly inundated with over 2,000 reactions and hundreds of comments from shoppers praised the cost-cutting tip as a "brilliant idea."

"Gotta do what you gotta do now a days I think it’s a brilliant idea ", said one shopper.

"Love this. Think I might do this to my husband. He says nothing beats Heinz. We shall see!", exclaimed a second.

"Brilliant, might try this with hubby x", said a third.

"We started buying Aldi ketchup few weeks back and the kids said it's as good as Heinz. And at 64p I'm happy to buy a few more each week", raved a fourth shopper.

"I did this to my husband and he couldn’t tell the difference. In fact he insisted it was Heinz?", said a fifth.

Many others were quick to point out the similarities show that cheaper supermarket 'dupes' are "just as good" as the more expensive brands.

Other shoppers also mentioned how they had used the same 'hack' with other foods and household products in a bid to help keep costs low.

"I've done that many times before plus put supermarket cereal in Kelloggs boxes. They never knew!", said one shopper.

"I did the same with cola my daughter would only drink coke but it was expensive so bought Aldi and poured into a empty coke bottle she was drinking it for months before she realised, now she buys cheap Aldi cola herself", commented a second.

"I do this all the time - I also swap fish fingers in to a different box and washing up liquid in to fairy bottle hahaha", replied a third.
