A woman who usually shops at Tesco was left speechless after comparing the supermarket's prices with Aldi. Rebecca Astill, who describes herself as a 'hardcore Tesco shopper', made a trip to Aldi to see if she could significantly reduce the price of her shop.

Here's what she said:
I was taken aback to discover the difference was only a matter of £1.82. I was so sure it would be far more than that.
One thing I discovered is that a lot of the basic items, which is what I was shopping for to represent an average shop, are Aldi price matched in Tesco. I did find the Aldi price match isn’t always 100 per cent, but it certainly went both ways.
Plus, surprisingly, Tesco was cheaper for a few items, including mince, cucumber and cheese - but not quite enough to sway the final total. Though Aldi works out slightly cheaper on staples, my small amount of research has convinced me that I’m ok to stick to Tesco for now. Prices are going up comparatively at every supermarket so why deprive myself for the sake of £2 per week.
