Aldi shopper's warning to parents over 'awful' £3.29 baby wipe boxes

Supermarket giant Aldi is facing a furious parent backlash over its Mamia baby wipes. The wipes previously caused a backlash afer the supermarket discontinued wipes containing plastic and replaced them with a plastic-free version.

But in doing so, packs of baby wipes increased in cost but decreased in size. Now shoppers have found themselves disgusted after the supermarket reportedly increased the price of boxes fom £2.79 to £3.29.

Posting a picture of the boxes on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains group, Jessica Allen wrote: "They have gone from £2.79! #aldisortyash*tout!" Her post quickly racked up plenty of angry comments, with some shoppers branding the wipes 'awful'.

Leona Martin said: "I've switched to another brand now. I don't know what they've changed, but they're now awful and Smell real bad."

Tracie Warr said: "I’ve been using these for years, but since Aldi UK changing them, I find them too tight together and you end up pulling out half the pack and ripping the packet! The wipes seem thinner and smaller than before and less moist! I know things have to increase in price, but the quality of these now are not so good."

Sue Grainger wrote: "Everything has increased its madness." Susan Beecroft asked: "What's wrong with a good old fashion flannel and water and a dab of baby shampoo, less waste." Claire Bear Pizzey said: "I used to buy these all the time in bulk as they were brilliant. Now they are awful so although slightly more expensive I have gone back to pampers wipes they are still fab."

Lauren Oliveria slammed: "I wouldn’t even mind the price increase if it was the old wipes but they’re awful now! I’ve been trying so many brands but they’ve all gone rubbish." Lee Mcfc Middy commented: "That's still much cheaper than other places for a box of wipes." Carla Miller said: "Still cheaper than tesco I buy 2 boxes from aldi to make 12 packs but if I buy 12 packs at tesco it's £7.20."

Other shoppers suggested alternative places parents can buy baby wipes that are good quality and won't break the bank. Morrisons and Home Bargains were among the suggestions.

Sophie Drennan suggested: "Morrisons own band and the aveeno wipes are the only ones we've found to be any good." Sarah Wackett advised: "I get mine from home bargains. Really good quality and a pack of 12 with 64 wipes in each pack!"

Aldi has been approached for comment.
