Aldi shopper dad gobsmacked to find 6-inch 'mutant crisp' in bag from bargain store

A dad opened a bag of crisps and inside it he discovered a massive, six-inch mutant version of the potato snack.

Michael Langford, 44, couldn't believe what he was seeing when he pulled out a mammoth version of the cheese and onion crisp that was almost as long as the packet.

The online shop owner said he suspected something was amiss when he picked up the packet of thick-cut Snackrites - an Aldi brand - late last week to munch on.

“I remember the packet feeling particularly bulgy," Michael, who lives in Poole, Dorset, told the Sun.

He continued: “I put my hand in the bag and clasped onto the first crisp I could find.

"It was the first one to come out and it kept going and going."

Michael said he couldn't believe his eyes when he saw the length of the crinkled potato snack.

His friends now refer to it as the 'Mutant Crisp'.

There was no way Michael was actually going to eat his immense savoury discovery. Instead he plans to auction it and give the proceeds made to charities supporting Ukrainian refugees.

While Michael's is the latest giant crisp discovery, he is not alone in finding mutant versions of the popular treat.

Back in 2020, a woman found what she reckoned is the world's biggest crisp - measuring a whopping 20cm long.

Janine Ross, 38, made the bombshell discovery while sharing a packet of 69p Asda own brand onion ring snacks with her friend's daughter Izzy.

Their humble bag contained a massive sausage-shaped crisp - measuring a hefty eight inches.

And in even stranger news, just last month a woman found an entire fried potato in her packet of Kettle Chips.

TikTok user Katherine bought a packet of salt and vinegar crisps and when she opened it she was in for a shock.

She went to dive in, but instead of a packet full of thin delicious crisps, she was left with a huge golden potato, covered in Kettle's iconic flavouring and perfectly fried.

And in 2019 a Morrisons shopped was left stunned when he came across a massive, six-inch crisp that he planned to keep in a display case.

Daniel Heginbotham, 44, picked up a bag of own-brand The Best Sweet Chilli Crisps from a Morrisons store on the way to work in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, where he later discovered the huge potato snack.
