Aldi have launched their Red Velvet cream liqueur just in time for Valentine’s Day and it’s already flying off the shelves.
A clear dupe for the Baileys Red Velvet Cupcake , Aldi has really made us swoon with its bright red glittery bottle of the new Ballycastle drink.
This isn't the first time it's pushed the boat out in terms of flavours, with clementine cream, white chocolate, strawberries and cream and mint chocolate flavour already available to buy.

We tried the Red Velvet cream liqueur to test whether it’s the perfect Valentine’s Day tipple for you and your loved one.
Ballycastle’s Red Velvet Cupcake edition is £7.25 for a 70cl bottle, with Bailey’s priced at £21.99 - saving you £15.
The look
It’s no doubt that this drink looks attractive, it’s an amazing pinky-red colour and has that satisfying pour that all cream liqueur drinks have.
The bottle has a slight shimmer to it making it not only a treat for loved ones but family and friends too.
Aldi has got the colour spot on, virtually matching the bottle with a nice bright appearance.
It’s very similar to Bailey’s in terms of shape, and looks a lot more expensive than it actually is.
I poured the thick creamy liqueur into my glass with a couple of ice cubes and it really was like velvet in appearance.
The taste
The scent of whisky definitely overpowers the sweet cake smell, but I didn’t let that put me off.
Being a big fan of Bailey’s, I was a little bit unsure of the Aldi version, and didn’t know if it would quite be the same.
I’ve tried the Ballycastle Irish Country Cream at Christmas and yes it was nice, but it just wasn’t the same as Bailey’s.
However, as soon as I took a sip of this flavour, I was amazed.
This drink really did taste like liquid cake, and it wasn’t too sickly or sugary either, it was just right.
I’d definitely say it had more of a general cake flavour as opposed to specifically red velvet, but it was still absolutely delicious.
It was also incredibly moreish too, I realised my boyfriend and I had just been continually topping up our glasses until we’d almost polished the bottle off.
Despite its thickness and creaminess, it was very easy to drink and went down a treat.
Although the whisky taste was definitely there, the drink had a fine balance between the sweetness of cake and the tang of whisky.
I’m giving the Valentine’s Day Red Velvet cream liqueur a solid 5/5 and would definitely recommend it for Valentine’s Day, or any other day for that matter.
You're going to have to be quick to get it though, as there have only been a few bottles left in the stores I've visited.
