Bargain retailer Aldi has cracked jokes after news it had settled its long-running Colin the Caterpillar cake row with Marks and Spencer.
The supermarkets went head to head after M&S launched legal action against Aldi, claiming the bargain store’s Cuthbert the Caterpillar cake is too similar to Colin.
M&S wanted to pull Cuthbert from shelves after saying the cake infringes the trademark of Colin and "rides on the coat-tails" of its reputation.

The food giant had gone on to claim that the similarity of both products leads customers to believe they are of the same standard.
However, both supermarkets have now confirmed that a deal has been made, ending the legal dispute.
Within hours of the news, Aldi had already started cracking jokes about the dispute online.
Taking to Twitter, Aldi wrote: “Thinking of releasing a memoir. Guilty Pleasures: Cake, Court and Caterpillars #Cuthbert”.
In a follow up tweet, Aldi said: “Hey Wiggles, Clyde, Cecil, Curly and Morris. Fancy getting the band back together? #Cuthbert”.
Wiggles, Clyde, Cecil, Curly and Morris refer to caterpillar cakes sold by Sainsbury’s, Asda, Waitrose, Tesco and Morrisons.
A third Aldi tweet said: “FreedCuthbert #Cuthbert”.
This isn’t the first time Aldi has poked fun at its legal issues with M&S either, even going so far as to reference it in its annual Christmas advert.
For 2021, Aldi created a Dickensian-style take on A Christmas Carol, which followed the story of Christmas loathing Ebanana Scrooge.
In an early scene of the advert viewers have spotted Cuthbert the Caterpillar being arrested by two lemon police officers.
