Aldi has added two new candles to its Hotel Collection range just in time for Father’s Day - and they can save you a pretty penny in comparison to similar products on the market.
The masculine scented candles have been dubbed ‘mandles’ by the German supermarket, and cost £4.99 each, offering a 95 per cent saving when compared to Jo Malone’s £150 layered varieties.
The new additions to the popular range are available in a musky Oud and Bergamot layered with Opulent Poppy or sweet and smoky Velvety Rose layered with Vetiver and Vanilla Bourbon.

The candles each feature a two-wick design and layered wax to combine two scents in one candle.
Ahead of Sunday, June 19, I’ve been burning the Oud and Bergamot/Opulent Poppy candle, which comes in a teal ombre glass jar. Aldi said: “This isn't just any candle, it's a mandle! A candle is a great way to create some ambience in any room. Pop this beautifully presented Dual Scented Oud & Poppy Mandle on a mantlepiece or coffee table to instantly add soft flickering light and the relaxing fragrance to your space.”
This particular mandle features a top layer with a oud and bergamot scent and the bottom layer of opulent poppy, and with a burn time of up to 60 hours, I’m yet to make much of a dent in the first fragrance.
However, I often find when I’ve been burning the same candle for a few weeks, I get bored of it and inevitably go out to buy another candle. But as this scent changes halfway through the candle, it means I’m much less likely to be raiding the middle aisle for a different one in a week or so’s time.
The candle itself smells absolutely gorgeous and can quickly fill the lounge with its aftershave-inspired smell. I’m a big fan of woody perfumes and candles anyway, and this is one my whole family loves and guests always compliment.
If that’s not enough, shoppers can create a heaven scent bundle this June as the dual fragrance designs can also be bought in diffuser form, with the Hotel Collection Dual Fragrance Reed Diffusers Set available for just £8.99.
The budget store have also launched a brand new aftershave that’s said to be a dead ringer for Creed Aventus , costing a fraction of the price. A bottle of Creed would set shoppers back £295 at John Lewis , but if you’re looking for something a little more affordable this Father’s Day, Aldi’s ‘His Reign ’ may be a great option for £6.99.
