Shoppers in one Nottingham suburb are counting down as their local Aldi store is set to reopen after receiving a "fresh new look". The retailer's Daybrook store closed on Saturday (March 18) for refurbishment and will reopen to customers at 8am on Thursday (March 23).
The transformation is part of Aldi's £600million investment into improving its stores and services across the UK. It is based on feedback from more than 50,000 customers.
Commenting on the work so far, store manager Charles Raynor said: "The store is looking fantastic, and we can't wait to welcome our loyal customers back so they can see it for themselves. We're committed to making sure that the shopping experience each customer enjoys in our stores is on a par with the products and service they're used to."

Standing at 1,006 sq m of retail space, the budget retailer said the design of the store will provide a layout that is "more customer-focused" and "allows for the products customers know and love to be found more easily, whilst browsing new ranges". The new-look store, which employs 35 staff members, will provide extra space dedicated to fresh British meat and fish, as well as popular Lacura health and beauty products, alcohol, baby care products, and a new and improved Food to Go section. The refurbishment will create two additional jobs.
Shoppers will need to get used to a rearranged store but there will be "more space and clearer signs", according to the retailer. Fresh bread and cakes have been moved to the last aisle, preventing them getting squashed under customers’ shopping, and the store will have "easy to browse" freezers.
During reopening week, the store will be offering a range of outdoor accessories in its Aisle of Aldi section, including a patio heater for £29.99, a walk-in greenhouse for £34.99 and a steel chimenea for £49.99. Specialbuys are available every Thursday and Sunday.
The store, which has 80 car parking spaces, is located on Mansfield Road, Daybrook, NG5 6BH, and will be open Monday to Saturday from 8am to 10-pm and on Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
