While pulling out a few slices of bread for a post-football snack - one man discovered something which blew his mind.
After picking up an 'emergency' loaf from Aldi on his way back from a match on Sunday, Phil Mottram was getting ready to enjoy some toast.
No one could have been prepared for what he witnessed - a 'Franken-loaf'.
The 41-year-old, from Stratford, East London, had bought a 36p loaf of Everyday Essentials Medium Sliced White Bread, so was stunned to see a seeded brown top corner.
While some people would have been sickened by the different coloured bread, Phil decided to tuck in and was pleasantly surprised by the taste sensation.
The graphic designer said: "I thought it looked like a bit of a 'franken-loaf' - a bit weird - but I'm not adverse to eating something that looks a bit weird. I tried it and it tasted good.

"We needed an emergency loaf of bread so I'd just ran in and grabbed it without noticing.
"It was in five or six slices - almost like the brown dough got dropped in with the white dough and they got squished together.
"You could break the brown bit off and eat that first, then you're left with a piece of white bread around it.
"I know Aldi always talk about value for money but they've basically given me two types of bread for the price of one. They've stumbled onto a genius idea."
Phil, who picked up the bread from the Leyton branch of Aldi in Leyton, East London, believes the bizarre bake was probably just a 'botch' in the production line.
While Phil was pleasantly surprised at his unexpected find, he admitted that his three kids did not find it as interesting.
"They didn't think much of it at all, they just looked at it with the usual disdain that they give most things I show them," he said.
"What's on telly is far more important to them and it's hard to get kids to like brown bread anyway.
"If it was a cross between a waffle and a pancake I might have got some interest out of them - but white and brown bread isn't really their bag."
It may have been a mistake, but Phil thinks he may have stumbled across a genius new product that could make Aldi millions.
The dad-of-three said: "It looked like a brown roll had been baked into the white bread before it went in the slicer.
"If they could do a double-flavoured loaf it'd be quite interesting, especially if you've got kids - you can give them the white half and have the brown half for yourself.
"It'd have different textures and a bit of variety, it could be a good idea.
"I think they've stumbled onto something they could look into - a bit of product development that could make them millions."
Aldi clearly saw the funny side, as a spokesman said: "Oh crumbs - we may have taken the recipe for half and half bread too literally. Though we're glad Mr Mottram has had a loafly surprise!"
Phil shared his multi-coloured find on social media, tweeting: "Two for the price of one. This would be genius if you'd meant to do it. Makes great toast!'."
In agreement, the supermarket responded: "We may have accidentally had a great idea!"
