Aldi reveals opening date for Llandudno supermarket

Aldi has revealed the opening date for its redeveloped store in Llandudno. Work is ongoing on the redevelopment of the Aldi store at Mostyn Champneys Retail Park and the creation of a new Costa on the site.

Redevelopment work began when the site closed its doors on Christmas Eve, after Aldi took on the former Argos unit next door. Argos moved into a different unit on the retail park.

Aldi's new store will be around double the size of the previous shop, with a new shop front being created in order to accommodate the Costa Coffee. The former McDonald's site nearby has been demolished for extra car parking space after the restaurant relocated to a new two-storey site.

The German discounter previously said the existing store on the Mostyn Champneys retail park was holding back sales. The store dated back to 1995 and the expansion will create an additional 10 roles with shop floor space going from 763sq m to 1315sq m.

The new development includes stripping out the former Argos unit to allow the existing Aldi store to be extended with a new single storey flat roof extension being constructed on the front of building to provide a new entrance lobby.

Aldi has now confirmed the new shop will open on Thursday May 26.
