Aldi opening hours: What time is the supermarket open this bank holiday VE Day?

You may know that this Friday, May 8 is a Bank Holiday in the UK.

Coupled with coronavirus social distancing measures, this means that many of the nation’s grocer’s will cut back on their opening hours - so if you’re hoping to get some essentials in before the long weekend hits, here’s everything you need to know.

What are Aldi’s operating hours for May 8?

The German supermarket chain will open its doors from 8am until 8pm on the VE Day bank holiday. Most stores will be open from 8am on Saturday or 10am on Sunday, closing at 1pm or 4pm respectively.

According to Aldi’s website, stores remain open until 10pm Monday to Saturday.

Aldi’s shopping in-store rules

The company has brought in clear screens at their checkouts and two metre markings to help protect shoppers and staff. Customers are also asked to use contactless payments over cash in an effort to curb the spread of Covid-19.

The supermarket is asking customers to shop alone using a single trolley to help support social distancing. Parents who have no choice but to shop with their kids will be allowed to continue to do so.

Will key workers and the elderly have priority?
