Lidl, Aldi, Tesco and other supermarkets have issued several urgent product recalls with consumers urged to check their cupboards and not to use the items.
The warnings, which have been collated by the Food Safety Agency, include lager from Lidl, chocolate from Tesco and chicken products from Sainsbury's. The recalls have been issued amid safety fears from contamination by salmonella, sulphur dioxide and lead.
When a product is recalled, for any reason, shares details on what you should do if you have bought the item, as well as detailed information on why the product is being pulled from shelves.

Lidl - lager
Lidl GB is extending the recall of Starovice Czech Lager 5.0% to include additional date codes because it contains sulphur dioxide, which is not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites.

Our advice to consumers is if you have bought the above product and have a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites, do not drink it. Aldi - chicken wraps
Aldi is recalling Eat + Go Chicken and Bacon Caesar Wrap and Eat + Go Chicken and Bacon Caesar Wrap Triple because of the possible presence of salmonella in these products.

Tesco - chocolate
Strauss Israel is taking the precautionary action of recalling several Elite-branded confectionery products because they may be contaminated with Salmonella.
Tesco is recalling two products from their store - Elite strawberry-filled chocolate 100g and Elite strawberry-filled chocolate 45g.

Tesco is recalling various date codes of selected Tesco chicken products, as they've been made aware that they may contain salmonella.

If you’ve bought an affected product, please don’t eat it. Instead, return it to a Tesco store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required.
Lidl - rice
Lidl GB is recalling Taste of Mexico Spicy Mexican Style Microwavable Rice, 250g with Best Before Date 16.07.23 and Batch Code LP42201800135-26 as raised levels of lead were detected in the product.
Lead may influence the nervous system, as well as the hormone system if consumed over a long period of time. If you have bought the product we advise you not to eat it. Instead, return it to a Lidl GB store for a full refund, with or without a receipt.
Other Best Before Dates and Batch Codes are not affected by this recall. Lidl GB wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Sainsbury's - various chicken products
Sainsbury's is recalling the majority of Sainsbury's and Taste the Difference chicken sandwiches, chicken wraps, chicken sandwich platters and some of our cooked chicken.
This is a precautionary measure as their supplier has alerted them that salmonella has been detected in some batches of cooked chicken. Sainsbury's is asking customers not to consume the product and to return it to their nearest Sainsbury's store, where they will receive a full refund.
