A new gin which will be hitting the shelves this May captures a taste of the summer and aims to sparkle to celebrations for the Queen's Jubilee.
Aldi has announced the launch of a limited-edition addition to its Infusionist Gin range - a light-up glitter British Strawberry with Mint Gin Liqueur especially for the Queen ’s Jubilee - which comes in a bottle with a patriotic red, white and blue glow. The shimmery drink will go on sale on May 16, just in time for people to stock up ahead of the four-day Bank Holiday weekend on June 2-5 to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
The store calls it a perfect centrepiece for street and garden parties and claims that at £13.99 for a 70cl bottle, the gin is £2 cheaper than an alternative £16 M&S version. The tipple, said to light up and shimmer, pays "tribute to Britain’s longest-reigning monarch", it says.

Buckingham Palace has its own gin, making use of botanicals from the royal garden, and the Queen has been said to enjoy a gin and Dubonnet. Aldi says: "It seems only right to launch a special jubilicious tipple in commemoration of the historical anniversary.
"Encapsulating the taste of a picture-perfect British summer, the new liqueur boasts flavours of jammy British strawberries, with a hint of mint to balance." And it recommends that the best way to serve it is as a 'classic Jubilee G&T' with tonic, a garnish of orange and plenty of ice.
Aldi’s new British Strawberry & Mint Gin Liqueur will go on sale from May 16 and the store says that - as with all its 'Specialbuys' - "once they’re gone, they’re gone".
