German supermarket Aldi have been named the cheapest supermarket for pancake ingredients - but it’s their Specialbuys shoppers can’t wait to get their hands on for Pancake Day.
Customers can bag eggs, plain white flour, semi-skimmed milk, caster sugar, lemon juice, chocolate spreads, strawberries, golden syrup and blueberries for a pocket-pleasing £2.69 per person this Shrove Tuesday.
All the essential ingredients aside, this March 1, it’s the middle aisle Specialbuys shoppers can’t get enough of - including a £17.99 crepe maker.
The budget retailer said it “makes delicious crepes without the fuss”, coming with a wooden spatula and spreader for perfectly even pancakes.
And of course, the Ambiano Crepe Maker isn’t just for Pancake Day - but it sure will make life easier on Tuesday evening. It’s also ideal for breakfast or a weekend brunch, or even just as a cheeky treat.
Taking the hassle out of making sweet or savoury crepes, the appliance features an adjustable temperature control with a non-stick cooking plate that can make foot-wide pancakes.
The machine comes with three years warranty, and customers love how easy it is to use.
One shopper said: “Makes the best crepes and pancakes. The non-stick plate just floats them without oil, just precoat and wipe dry anyone can use it!”
If you’re desperate to try out your pancake flipping skills, Aldi are also stocking a Crofton Crepe Pancake Pan.
The £7.99 pan means foodies can create light thin crepes to their heart’s content.
More fun pancake pans include one that creates animal pancakes, and another with smiley faces, but these have been so popular, they’ve sold out online.
Research from Aldi found that one pancake image was uploaded to Instagram every five seconds on Pancake Day last year.
To celebrate, the retailer has launched a range of new spreads for Pancake Day, too, including Cadbury spreads and unique flavoured peanut butters
Available in stores and online now, are three new unique flavoured Grandessa Peanut Butters, coming in Maple and Pecan, Salted Caramel and Gingerbread, costing £1.49 each.
Delicious drizzled over crepes or American style stacks they are ideal for the peanut butter pancake trend, which is taking Tik Tok by storm, with 41 million views of #peanutbutterpancake videos.
Or for those looking for their chocolate pancake fix, there’s a delicious trio of Cadbury spreads to choose from - Caramel, Dairy Milk and Crunchy, which are all £1.99 a tub.
