Aldi launch 6.5l slow cooker that’s cheaper than Wilko, Argos and Currys

It’s October which means it’s prime slow cooker season for those hearty casseroles, beef stews and warming chilis. And Aldi have just launched a slow cooker that’s perfect for feeding the whole family.

The Ambiano 6.5L Slow Cooker is a large-capacity slow cooker that means that you can make sure tea is on the table the moment you get home - and it’s cheaper than a conventional oven.

According to research by energy supplier Utilita, slow cookers cost roughly 16p a day to run, meanwhile according to uSwitch, an electric oven powered at 0.97 kilowatts costs roughly 14p for 30 minutes.

The Aldi Specialbuy comes in at under £30 , costing £29.99 - which is cheaper than similar models at Argos, Currys and Wilko.

Aldi said: “The Ambiano 6.5L Slow Cooker is the perfect appliance for any kitchen, especially if you have a busy lifestyle.”

The cooker comes with three heat settings, and can be switched on in the morning, cooking your food throughout the day so it’s ready when you get home. Perfect for the likes of soups and stews, the ceramic pot has a non-stick coating and comes with a three year warranty.

With safety in mind, it is designed with a toughened glass lid, cool touch handles and skid resistant feet, as well as an on/off indicator light so you can be sure you’ve switched it on, or off.

Having launched online on Sunday, October 2, the Aldi slow cooker is available to pre-order, with an estimated dispatch date of October 9.

Elsewhere, 6.5l slow cookers are over the £30 mark, costing £33 for a Cookworks version from Argos , while this Wilko digital slow cooker comes in at £35. Other brands, like Salter, come in much higher for the same capacity, priced at £51.99 at Currys , making Aldi’s own brand look even more like a bargain. You can order the Aldi slow cooker here.
