Budget supermarket Aldi has issued an urgent recall for one of their popular summer SpecialBuy items over a design defect that could cause customers harm. The German discounted chain has pulled its Portable Hammock with Stand by Adventuridge from its outdoor garden furniture range as it could cause "risk of injury" to customers.
The hammock - which was available in blue, green or yellow - was originally priced at £44.99 and featured an integrated drinks holder, removable pillow and a magazine holder.
Shoppers who have purchased the product are being asked to check their receipt for the affected batch code number which is 816216.
A description for the product, which is now out of stock, reads: "Relax and unwind on this Portable Hammock with Stand by Adventuridge. This hammock features an integrated drinks holder, removable pillow and a magazine holder.
Catch those summer rays out in your garden on this comfortable hammock."
Aldi has since released a statement urging their shoppers to return the portable hammock to stores immediately for a full refund, reports The Mirror.
The statement read: "We are recalling this product due to a design defect that may cause the seam to split.
"Customers are asked to return this product to their nearest store, where a full refund will be given.
"We apologise that this product did not meet our normal high standards and thank you for your co-operation."

It comes just after the supermarket chain had to issue a similar recall for a number of defective garden furniture items due to a fire risk.
