Aldi issues recall notice for summer Specialbuy item due to 'design defect'

Aldi has recalled one of its popular Specialbuy products because of a “design defect”. The supermarket's outdoor portable hammock has been pulled with a producy recall notice issued.

In a statement, Aldi advised customers who bought the Specialbuy item this summer to return the product to stores immediately. Customers will be issued a full refund.

Aldi said: "We are recalling this product due to a design defect that may cause the seam to split. Customers are asked to return this product to their nearest store, where a full refund will be given. We apologise that this product did not meet our normal high standards and thank you for your co-operation."

The hammock came in two colours - blue or green and yellow - and was priced at £44.99. All affected products will have the code 816216, which should be found on the receipt. A description on the Aldi website for the product, which is now out of stock, reads: "Relax and unwind on this Portable Hammock with Stand by Adventuridge.

"This hammock features an integrated drinks holder, removable pillow and a magazine holder. Catch those summer rays out in your garden on this comfortable hammock."

The Adventuridge Portable Hammock with Stand has been recalled by Aldi (Aldi)

Customers affected by the recall can contact Customer Service on 0800 042 0800 for more information. This is not the only outdoor item that the supermarket has issued a recall for in 2022, reports the Mirror.

Earlier in the year, Aldi asked customers to return a number of defective garden furniture items due to a fire risk. The supermarket is also recalling a batch of The Foodie Market Milled Brown Flaxseed due to detection of Salmonella Typhimurium.

The affected product has a batch code of L131315 and is best before the end of January 2023. According to the Consumer Guarantee Act, if a fault makes a product unsafe and it is difficult to amend that fault, customers have a right to reject the product in exchange for a refund.
