Supermarket giant Aldi has announced it will be closing every store in the UK next Monday. The retailer has given shoppers a week's notice ahead of the store closures.
The retailer has decided to close every one of its supermarkets on Monday September 19 for the Queen's funeral. The Queen died last Thursday.
Posting on Facebook, Aldi said: "As a mark of respect, all Aldi stores across the UK will close on Monday 19th September to allow our store colleagues to pay tribute to Our Majesty the Queen." The post was written in white text on a black background.

Some shoppers have praised the move. Deb Kew said: "Good! Everyone can do without shopping for one day. The only people working should be essential services."
Cameron Ellis said: "It is the right thing to be done too, everyone else should follow suit, afterall it's just for 24 hours." Tracey Chamberlain said: "Well done I think the whole country should be allowed to pay respect by having a total shut down."
Donna McIntyre said: "This is good news....others should follow your example....I'm sure the country will survive for a day without a trip to the supermarket." Fiona Walton said: "Well done hope other supermarkets do the same, but I highly doubt it."
