Aldi homemade 20p Platinum Jubilee clothes hack shared by mum

An Aldi shopper has shared an "easy" hack to make homemade Jubilee clothes to celebrate 70 years of the Queen's reign.

The budget retailer stocks 20p Aldi Eco Loop Carrier Bags that are emblazoned with the Union Jack.

People have found an ingenious use for these bags — and it has nothing to do with carrying shopping.

With Jubilee celebrations taking place across Scotland and the UK this weekend, many are looking to dress up for the occasion.

Rather than buying expensive clothes amid the worsening cost of living crisis, you can simply transfer the Aldi bag design onto a t-shirt or top.

The process involves cutting out the Union Jack from the bag with scissors, and then placing it on the item of clothing you wish to put it onto.

Then, greaseproof paper must be placed over the plastic — after which it can be ironed on slowly with full heat.

Once cool, the greaseproof paper can be slowly removed, leaving a festive top perfect for celebrating the Jubilee.

Taking to the ALDI SHOPPERS UK Facebook group, the customer wrote: "Well chuffed with my Aldi plastic bags ironed onto t shirts for my twins for their jubilee party at school next week."

It wasn't long before the post had racked up more than 1,300 likes and hundreds of comments.

One impressed Facebook user said: "Brilliant and not expensive. Shows a little imagination can cost pennies, well done."

A second agreed: "What a fantastic idea! Well done you."

"This is fab I'm going to try this," shared a third.

"Going to try this thanks for tip," a fourth echoed.

Another commented: "Well done, that looks amazing".

"What a good idea and so easy," posted a sixth,

Meanwhile, a seventh joked: "You watch they will be a shortage of carrier bags now at Aldi."
