Aldi employees' ability to scan items so quickly has 'nothing to do with skill'

An Aldi shopper has revealed how staff are able to scan through items so quickly - and it has nothing to do with technique.

You'd be forgiven for thinking that Aldi employeees are taught to scan items through at a rapid pace, but apparently, it has more to do with the packaging of the products they're scanning.

A TikToker has now explained why she thinks the staff are able to do it so quickly.

The user named Sam, who posts under @glutenfreesam, shared all in a video that went viral explaining why she thinks the checkout workers are so fast.

She said: "Fun fact: Aldi product packaging is designed to have multiple barcodes so that cashiers can scan things faster, all about that speed baby."

More than 394,000 people have watched the clip, with it garnering over 10,800 likes.

Dozens of users have also commented on the video, with many sharing that they didn't know about the packaging and that the 'fun fact' made lots of sense.

"Wait that’s actually so smart," replied one person.

Another wrote: "I could never figure out how they do it so quick. I'm always trying to match their speed while unloading my cart."

A third said: "Broooo….that’s so smart and I always wondered how they went so effing fast."

Someone else posted: "Also most types of packaging have barcodes in the same relative areas."

While an Aldi employee added that they loved impressing people with their speed at the till, saying: "This is the most satisfying part of my job. I love when people are amazed by my speed."
