Aldi customers 'devastated' as key delivery service no longer offered

Aldi customers have been left ‘devastated’ as a service created during Covid-19 is now suddenly unavailable.

When the virus was at its height, Aldi and Deliveroo came together to offer at-home delivery for customers self-isolating or who were nervous about entering shops.

Thousands of people jumped on board and have continued to order their weekly shop online, with the convenience of having it delivered at a time slot chosen by the customer.

However, on Saturday Aldi confirmed that they are no longer offering the home service with the delivery app.

They have not confirmed whether or not it will resume in time or if it has entirely ceased but customers have been taking to Twitter to air their disappointment.

One customer wrote: “I’m truly devastated they’ve acc gotten rid of Aldi Deliveroo. I have to leave the house now to buy my groceries.”

A second person said: “Aldi is gone from Deliveroo I'm so upset.”

A third added: “Omg Aldi is gone from Deliveroo my life is ruined.”

As an onslaught of questions were being put to the budget supermarket, a spokesperson began responding to each customer to say:

“We can confirm we do not currently offer home delivery with Deliveroo.

“We apologise for any inconvenience. Thanks. - Diarmiad.”
