Aldi customer left horrified after finding 'dead snake' in can of baked beans

A woman has been left horrified after finding a 'dead snake' inside a tin of beans.

The 26-year-old said she 'nearly threw' the can of Corale premium quality baked beans across the room after discovering the contents of the tin.

She had purchased the beans from her local Aldi in Port, Wales and described the 'snake' like object which was floating in the sauce as being grey and black in colour with 'distinctive markings.

The customer - who asked not to be named - said she was too freaked out by the discovery to get to the bottom of what the mystery ingredient actually was.

She explained: "I almost threw the tin across the room when I opened it up and saw what was inside.

"I physically couldn't bring myself to touch it. So I poked it with a fork and it all moved at once, after which point I refused to look again. So I wrapped it up and took it to Aldi to complain and they gave me two bottles of wine as a goodwill gesture."

As Wales Online reports the woman took to Twitter to share the image with the caption: "So, um... is that a snake in my beans?"

The post has since been viewed by over a million people with hundreds of users expressing their disgust and others said it turned them off eating beans forever.

One person described it as "traumatising," while another replied, "Are you sure it’s not listed in the ingredients under 'additives'?"

A third commented: "I can't even look at that - oh my God."

A Spokesperson for Aldi said: "Whilst we would not be able to explain the exact cause of this, it may have been due to a breach in the packaging which has allowed air to enter and cause the item to perish," they said.

"We will ensure your comments regarding this product are passed onto the relevant department. In the meantime, please return to the store for a full refund - please ask to speak to a member of staff who will be more than willing to help."
