Aldi, Costa and Tesco recall popular food items as shoppers warned 'do not eat' them

Tesco, Aldi and Costa Coffee have recalled several items that could be potentially unsafe for allergy sufferers.

Customers who have shopped at any of these shops recently are being urged to check their products as they could contain ingredients not listed on the labels.

The presence of eggs and nuts, such as walnuts, are among the unlisted ingredients that could pose a danger to people allergic to them.

Other potentially unsafe contents in the items include mustard and sulphites.

The Food Standards Agency has published a list of the specific items - with seven in total - that are being recalled.

Customers who may have bought any of food products can return them to the shops concerned if they are worried about the allergens.

You should receive a full refund for each item, even without a receipt as proof of purchase.

Costa Coffee

British Roast Chicken Salad Sandwich

(TAS)

This sandwich is being recalled as it includes mustard unlisted on the label, making it potentially harmful to those intolerant to the spice.

The use-by dates for this item of concern are September 11 to September 16 (inclusive).

No other Costa products are said to be affected.

Aldi

Bramwells Tartare Sauce

(TAS)

The use-by date on this particular item is April 2023 and its size is 175g.

The FSA advised customers: "If you have bought the above product and have a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites, do not eat it.

"Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.

"Aldi is recalling Bramwells Tartare Sauce because it contains sulphites which is not mentioned on the label.

"Due to mis-packing, Bramwells Tartare Sauce labels have been incorrectly applied to Bramwells Horseradish Sauce.

"This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites."

Aldi's notice read: "Customers are asked to return this product to their nearest store, where a full refund will be given.

"We apologise that this product did not meet our normal high standards and thank you for your co-operation."

The supermarket advised its customers to visit aldi.co.uk or contact it's customer service for more information.

Lotto Pepero Snowy

(FSA)

The use-by date on this item is May 1 and May 2, 2023 and its packets size is 32g.

These biscuit sticks have been recalled due to containing unlisted peanuts missing from the label.

Unisnacks Europe Limited is recalling the item from customers and is contacting the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.

The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers.

Tesco

Tesco 'Free From' Strawberry Cheesecake

The pack size is 2 x 100g and all use-by dates are included.

Wicked Kitchen Millionaire Sundae

The pack size is 100g and all use-by dates are included.

Wicked Kitchen Strawberry and Vanilla Cheesecake

The pack size is 100g and all use-by dates are included.

Wicked Kitchen Chocolate and Vanilla Cheesecake

The pack size is 100g and all use-by dates are included.

The supermarket giant is recalling all of these either gluten-free or vegan products as they contain traces of walnuts unlisted on the label.

Anyone with an allergy to nuts could face a possible risk to health.
