Aldi Coronation sale slashes cost of award-winning Prosecco in time for bank holiday

The Coronation bank holiday weekend is almost upon us, and if you are looking to celebrate in style, then Aldi is set to slash the cost of an award-winning bottle of Prosecco.

No matter how you're choosing to spend the Coronation, the long weekend wouldn't be complete without a glass of bubbles. Luckily, Aldi has come to the rescue by dropping the price of two popular summer tipples - including the award-winning Costellore Prosecco Spumante DOC.

The budget supermarket's bottle of fizz, which recently came out on top in a blind taste test, will be reduced from its usual £6.49 to just £4.99 tomorrow (May 6) - saving shoppers a whopping 27 percent of the original price. However, Aldi's Pimms-like drink - Austin's Summer Punch - is already on sale.

It comes just after the Prosecco was crowned as the best supermarket bottle by the Money Saving Expert Team in a "cheap prosecco taste test."

The supermarket's fizz was applauded for its "more-ish" and "lightly balanced taste" that put it ahead of premium brands, such as M&S and Waitrose.

It's not the only summer tipple that Aldi has slashed ahead of the weekend celebration, as it also has a more affordable version of the classic summer tipple Pimm's for you to try for less.

There is no tipple that is as heavily associated with the British summertime than the classic Pimm's, but Aldi's Austin's Summer Punch is said to deliver the same taste at a fraction of the cost.

The supermarket's summer punch has been dropped from £7.99 to just £6.49, which is up to a 57% saving when compared with Pimm's which can retail between £12-£15, depending where you shop.

The budget fruity cocktail, which previously beat Pimm's in a Which? consumer test, is perfect for the summer when served with lemonade, fresh mint leaves, cucumber, oranges and strawberries.

Aldi's offers on its Costellore Prosecco Spumante DOC will be dropped in price from tomorrow, Saturday, May 6. Meanwhile, its Austin's Summer Punch is available at its reduced price now. Both offers will only last in-stores while stocks last.
