Aldi confirms exact date shoppers will be hit by major Specialbuys change

Aldi has confirmed the exact date when it will axe its wine and Specialbuys online home delivery services.

The budget supermarket chain confirmed to The Mirror that the services will end on July 10.

The move will mean customers will no longer be able to order cheap wine cases or order Specialbuys to be delivered their door.

However, Aldi will still offer its grocery click and collect service, which sees customers order their food shop online to pick up in store.

Aldi shoppers will also still be able to buy Specialbuys in stores.

Customers have this week received an update about the change on the Aldi App.

The update read: "Like take Take That, the Creme Egg Mcflurry and a Freddo for 10p, all good things must come to an end.

"Soon Aldi will no longer sell Specialbuys for home delivery."

In its update, the supermarket chain noted that it understood shoppers would be "disappointed" with the change but said it was "more committed than ever to delivering Everyday Low Prices across the entire Aldi range.

It added: "But don't worry! You'll still be able to shop our amazing range of Specialbuys in-store with new delights landing every Thursday and Sunday and now with almost 1,000 stores across the UK, we'll be ready to welcome you with open arms (and more middle-aisle magic!

"Thank you for your support during this transition."

The supermarket chain announced the change earlier this year but did not confirm a date of when the transition would happen.

Aldi's middle aisle, also known as the Specialbuys aisle, is widely popular with shoppers who are looking for a bargain on anything from clothing to kitchen appliances.

Shoppers often queue online to snap up Specialbuy bargains as once they are gone - they are gone.

As of writing, Aldi did not confirm if there were any job losses as a result of the change however the supermarket chain has previously told the Mirror that any staff affected would be moved to other departments within the company.

An Aldi spokesperson told The Mirror: “As the UK’s cheapest supermarket we are always looking for ways to keep prices low for our customers.

"We have therefore taken the decision to end our Wine and Specialbuys online home delivery services on 10th July.

"Customers can shop the full range of amazing Wines and Specialbuys at their nearest store or use our grocery Click & Collect service which is available in around 200 stores nationwide.”
