Aldi confirms Bank Holiday opening hours for Queen's Jubilee weekend

A long Bank Holiday weekend to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee is on the way. Thursday, June 2, and Friday, June 3, are both public holidays - meaning people may be wondering if shops will be open as usual while the festivities take place.

Supermarket chain Aldi has now confirmed its opening hours for the upcoming four-day weekend. It says normal opening hours will remain in place at its stores - which number more than 960 across the UK.

Opening times can vary from place to place, so customers should check the details on Aldi’s website before setting off. However, Aldi said shoppers would "have time to pick up everything they need to enjoy the celebrations over the long weekend."

The four days of celebrations will include public events and community activities, as well as national moments of reflection on The Queen’s 70 years of service. These include Trooping the Colour on June 2 - culminating in a flypast to coincide with the Royal Family's balcony appearance - and the lighting of beacons nationwide on the same day.

The Platinum Party at the Palace, featuring big-name pop acts such as Diana Ross, Queen + Adam Lambert, Duran Duran and Sir Elton John, is happening on Saturday, June 4, while Sunday, June 5, has been earmarked for The Platinum Jubilee Pageant near Buckingham Palace, as well as Big Jubilee Lunch street parties.
