Aldi boss issues shoppers with reminder ahead of stores closing on Boxing Day

With Christmas just around the corner, the boss of supermarket chain Aldi has issued shoppers with reminder that stores will be closed on Boxing Day.

The German grocer's CEO, Giles Hurley, has reminded shoppers to get in all of their essentials by the time stores close early for the holidays on Christmas Eve, reports The Mirror.

All Aldi stores across Scotland will be closing earlier at 6pm and will remain closed on Christmas and Boxing Day this year, meaning you won't be able to head to the shops during this time.

The supermarket chain is among a host of other retailers that will be remaining closed on Boxing Day, including Home Bargains, M&S, Waitrose, Iceland, Poundland, B&Q and Wickes.

As reported by The Manchester Evening News, Aldi's CEO said: "And, as always, we close on Christmas Day and Boxing Day to make sure our amazing, hard-working colleagues can celebrate and enjoy time with their own families and loved ones."

The email continued: "Our thoughts are with those who may be struggling this Christmas and Aldi has launched an Emergency Winter Foodbank Fund worth £250,000 to support charities, foodbanks and community groups across the country.

"We will also once again be donating surplus unsold food to local charities and foodbanks once stores close on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, as part of our long-established partnership with Neighbourly.

"I want to take this opportunity, on behalf of everyone at Aldi, to wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year."
